Water, Water, Everywhere!

WARNING: Too many cute pictures of me to choose from so mommy put them all!


Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a little while because I've been kind of under the weather. Yep, all sorts of things were bothering me. I have two more teeth coming in (8 total!) and they're bothering me worse than any of the others. Mommy says my drool is like Niagra Falls. I had a fever last week and mommy had to pick me up from day care and take me to the doctor. No major revelations there....just a lot of poking and prodding. Oh yeah, and they weighed me again...20lbs! I've been on antibiotics for a few days and I'm back to my normal self now!

We had a friend of mommy and daddy's stay with us this past week, Mr. Til from California. He's really funny and kind of goofy. We're doing a lot of fun things... we went to a pool party last Sunday and we went out on daddy's boat on Monday. I think I would have had more fun if I was feeling better (I was NOT diggin' the life jacket). I got a rash on Sunday and then spending Monday in the hot sun really didn't do anything for my demeanor. Mommy managed to get a few good smiles out of me for pictures though (she's very persuasive). You can see daddy teaching me how to swim and then you can see me teaching daddy how to splash the water! I had a lot of fun hanging out with daddy in the river (mommy says to be sure you know that it's a river and not a swamp. The water is not as dirty as it looks, and try as I might, they would not let me drink it!).







Tuesday I went back to the doctor and it turns out I had an ear infection (poor daddy thinks it was swimming in the pool and he feels a little guilty. I gave him a big drool and a grin to let him know that I don't mind). They gave me some really good tasting medicine and I'm already feeling better (the rash is going away too)! Miss Tammy at daycare says her old Jake is back :)

Mommy and daddy went to a wedding last night and I stayed with my first official babysitter! I think she's really fun and I only gave her a little bit of a hassle. She even gave mommy a "report card". Mommy says we're very lucky to have found her.

We went back to Mr. Eric and Ms. Carrie's pool today and I found out that I really like to swim with daddy. It was kind of cold at first but daddy says we have to just pay the man and go in all the way. Once we did that, I found that I had a lot of fun. Mommy bought me something so I would always have shade and daddy and I checked it out today while mommy laid in the sun. Daddy was giving her a day off so we got to spend the whole day doing boy stuff. Mommy was smiling all day. Here are some pictures from the pool.

Growing like a weed...

I hope everyone had a great week! I sure did! I slept through the night EVERY SINGLE NIGHT this week. Mommy seemed to have a lot more energy than usual. I think I'll keep doing it now that daddy is home and see if it has the same affect on him.

As I said, daddy is back home again. Here's a picture of us at the beach...you can see how great his tan is! Key West did him good. I can't wait until I can go. Mommy says it's lots of fun.

I'm now sitting in a high chair at restuarants. I like it much better than my old infant seat. You can tell by the pictures here. Mommy took daddy out for a celebration lunch. He made Senior Chief! I'm not sure what that is, but everyone is really proud of him. I tried to pick up the check to show daddy how proud I am, but I can't sign my name yet so mommy had to do it.



I've had a fun filled day so I'm pretty tired. I'm not really in the talkative mood today, but definitely wanted to put some of my new pictures out here.

Oh yeah. Mommy decided to put some work in progress pictures of the back deck because she's not sure when it will get done. Not because Daddy's lazy, just because he's really busy.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! Daddy is gone on a "job" so it's just me and mommy this weekend. Mommy told me to put "job" in quotes because daddy is in Key West and she finds it very hard to believe there is much work going on. I think he went scuba diving and shopping today (probably trying to find something for mommy to make up for missing her first mother's day). I was going to cook her an omlet for breakfast but since I'm not allowed to use the stove yet (still don't have that pincher grasp thing down yet) I think I'll just cover her in drool and smiles. She seems to like that a lot. I did get to stay with Miss Tamara today while mommy got her hair done. I think that counts as a present right? We had lots of fun. I got to sit outside and I played with measuring spoons! Oh yeah....I met my first CAT!! Wow...very different from Chili Dog.

So, I'm officially 8 months old, 19 1/2 lbs, and 28 3/4 in. Mommy had to go buy me a new car seat today because I'm too tall for my old one! Boy is it nice! I've been trying to tell her for about a week that I was uncomfortable in the one I have now. But I wasn't sure my screaming and whining were getting through to her. It turns out that mommy is a very good listener.

She suggested that I tell you a few things about myself these days. So here goes...I'll try to be as interesting as possible.
I try really hard to sleep all night, but sometimes my belly growls about 4:00 and I just can't stand it anymore. I need my bottle! You're hungry after sleeping for 9 hours, right? But for the most part, I like to sleep (I still take 3-4 naps a day) and I hope to let mommy and daddy do the same some day.
I LOVE to be tickled. I like to giggle really loud. Well, really, I like the way it makes mommy and daddy laugh. They like to squeeze my legs and tickle my ribs and my goodness....it just makes me laugh.
I have new teeth coming in and the only thing that seems to make them feel better is to bite on everything I can get my hands on. You'll see in one of the pictures mommy attached, that I look like I'm about to kiss my new toy....not really, I'm trying to eat it...I know it would make my teeth feel better if I could get that big thing in my mouth!

Mommy bought me a new toy where you push a lever and it makes all this noise and spits out a ball at the bottom. I figured out the lever thing right off the bat! Mommy was so excited she took pictures of it.
I still really like my bath. I like it when mommy and daddy (mostly daddy, but when he's gone, it's mommy) squeeze the wash cloth over me and the water falls everywhere. I like to try and grab it. I also like to sink down in my tub and put my ears underwater (which I think you already know as mommy already put a picture out there....geesh...no privacy). Everything sounds funny when you're ears are underwater.
Another thing I've grown fond of doing is grabbing mommy's face. She thinks I'm grabbing at her nose and keeps trying to tell me what it is ("That's mommy's nose, This is Jake's nose"), but I just don't have control of my hands yet...I really want that hair!
The only other thing I can think of that might be of some interest is that I'm really trying to crawl. I have no idea how to do it but with all the encouragement mommy and daddy give me, I feel like I should figure it out pretty soon. Mommy thinks that if she crawls around in front of me that I'm suddenly going to have an epiphany and move towards her (I figure if I can get my vocabulary up, maybe they won't notice I'm not crawling yet). I did finally figure out how to roll onto my back from my belly so....combine that with rolling onto my belly from my back and guess what...I can roll anywhere I want to go! Mommy doesn't seem too disappointed. She mentioned something about not having to sweep up Chili Dog hair anymore???

Anyway, I've talked WAY TOO MUCH (Daddy says I get that from Mommy). Enjoy the pictures and I hope everyone has a very Happy Mother's Day.

Oops...Mommy just realized that I'm wearing the same outfit as I was in the last posting (Girls...who cares what I'm wearing?). She wanted everyone to know that yes, she did wash it and yes, I do like it very much. It has snorkling bears on it. I hope to snorkle and scuba dive some day. My Grammie sent it to me a long time ago and I'm finally big enough to wear it. She knows that daddy likes the water and bears so she figured I would like it too.

I was giggling really hard today for no reason and mommy took a picture of me. She doesn't know it, but I did have a reason...it starts with "P" and ends with "T" (did I mention I'm learning to spell?)




I hope everyone's not tired of seeing me play with my blocks! See, what happens is, every night before my bath, we go to my room and play for about 30 min. Sometimes we play with fish, sometimes blocks, sometimes my toolbox...but they always end up a perfect opportunity for me to flash my toothy grin! Oh yeah... if you see more slobber than usual in these pictures, it's because I'm getting two more teeth!! According to mommy and daddy, that makes 6!

Under the weather...

I got to stay home from school today!! Yesterday I was hot and had goop in my eyes so I decided to let my teachers know by crying a whole lot. They took my temperature and called mommy right away. Well, of course she was there by the time I woke up from my nap and she took me home...guess who was there?? Daddy! I got to spend the rest of the afternoon with daddy! He took me to the doctor and they said I had an eye infection. They gave me some eye drops and they're supposed to make me feel better - I have my doubts. Oh yeah, they weighed me and I weighed a wopping 19 1/2 lbs.! Those sweet potatoes are hard to resist!
Mommy stayed home and played with me all day today (well not all day, she attempted to work but I was having nothing of it...if I get to stay out of school, I want someone to play with!)

Here are some pictures of me playing with my new toolbox. I'm learning how to hammer things and fit shapes into holes (mainly my pie hole!). Mommy says I'm very alert. The lady at daycare says I notice everything. They also told mommy that I like to entertain myself and am rarely fussy. That's how they noticed I wasn't feeling good. When I give 'em a good cry, they all worry.



I'm heading back to school tomorrow because supposedly after using the eye drops for 24 hours, I'm not contagious anymore.

Chillin' in my bath

Can't a guy just enjoy his bath?? Mommy feels the need to post these pictures of me as I was enjoying my nighttime routine... I hope everyone gets as much a kick out of them as mommy did! She's hoping that since I had such a relaxing evening that I will sleep good tonight...boy do I have a night in store for her! But I did have fun playing with my fish tonight. Daddy swims them toward me and then we see who can eat who first!
